CABARROGUIS, Quirino – The joint elements of the Quirino Police Provincial Office(QPPO) here recently arrested two suspects of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 8294 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The QPPO, in coordination with the CIDG, PDEA and Diffun Police Station, during its ‘One-Time Big-Time’ operation, arrested Demetrio Manjares of Aurora East, Diffun through search warrant no. 001-2017 for violation of Article II, Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165.

The operatives seized some three sachets containing substance believed to be shabu, one rolled aluminium foil, one calibre .38 revolver pistol (Smith and Wesson) loaded with four live ammunitions without serial number and pertinent documents.

Cases of Violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165 and violation of PD 1866 as amended by RA 8294 and further amended by RA 10591 were filed against Manjares.

On the same day, same team also effected search warrant no. 002-2017 against Jonathan Maylem, former member of the Philippine Army and a resident of Batal, Santiago City for violation of RA 10591.

Confiscated during the implementation of the search warrant were one fragmentation hand grenade, one colt calibre .38 revolver special without serial number with four live ammunitions, one Farco Airgun calibre 22 with serial number 131701 and 44 pieces Parco pellets (alloy).

A case of violation of P.D. 1866 as amended by RA 8294 and further amended by RA 10591 has been filed against the said suspect. Quirino Police Provincial Director Merwin A. Cuarteros lauded his men for the success of the One-Time Big-Time operation.

“We all dream for a drug-free province and we will do our best to achieve peace as we continue to foster more activities in addressing criminality in the country,” Cuateros said.

Cuarteros stressed the importance of collective effort with the local government units and the general public.

The provincial director also encouraged the involvement of the public in all activities and programs of the PNP especially in crime reporting, saying that crime reporting helps them map out their One-Time Big-Time operational plans. Ben Ebreo/PIA
