TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Cagayan Valley bestowed on Friday night, March 31, the ‘Iddu Honor Roles Award for Women’ to deserving ten women in the entire region who exemplified extraordinary performances in their chosen career and advocacies.
Purita S. Licas, regional director and this year’s IDDU Chair, identified the awardees and their respective categories as Engr. Noralyn Busa (Agriculture), Marissa Cortez (Indigenous Peoples’ Development), Amalia A. Decena (PWD empowerment), Emilia D. Fernandez (Entrepreneurship), Estrella C. Langcay (Volunteerism), Kristina Marie C. Meman (Youth), Dr. Zsa-Zsa May T. Meneses (Health), Dr. Juliet M. Miranda (Law Enforcement), Grace B. Ruiz (Environment Protection) and Joanne E. Vallejo (Public Service).
Licas said the annual paperless award system which started in 2012 aims to recognize 10 woman-honorees whose exemplary performances and outstanding achievements continue to serve as inspiration and model to the rest of the women sector who untiringly contributed to community development.
The IDDU pioneer awardees, on the other hand, will also formally receive their plaque of recognition in this year’s awarding ceremmonies at the Events Place, Carmelita Hotel here.
Now on its sixth year, the Iddu has, so far, recognized 60 outstanding women in various fields and advocacies.
Antonia Hipolito-Pascual, national president of the Department of Agrarian Reform Employees’ Association and a native of this city, will grace the event as guest of honor and speaker. –Angely Lubo Mercado/PIA
