4,749 out of 10,523 pass ‘restrictive’ CSU entrance exam

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Only less than a half of total examinees passed the Cagayan State University’s (CSU) College Admission Test (CAT), a university official said on Monday, June 4.

In a Facebook post, Catholic priest Ranhilio Aquino, the university vice president for finance and administration, said 4,749 out of 10,523.

On Monday, the office of the university president, in a Facebook post, also released the list of the passers.

The CAT was simultaneously administered in the 8 campuses of CSU on May 20.

In earlier announcements, CSU said those who will fail the admission test can’t enroll since passing the test is one of the requirements.

Aquino said the examination imposes “restrictive admission standard” based on the   Republic Act (RA) 10931, or the “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act “(UAQTE).

RA 10931 was the same law passed to give free tuition to students in state universities and colleges (SUCs).

“This is definitely NOT an easy test,” Aquino earlier said.

A second batch of CAT takers will try their luck on June 22.
