TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director
General Oscar David Albayalde made his first command visit in Batanes on Friday, June 1, for the island province’s first anniversary declaration as the first drug-cleared province in the country.

Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino were welcomed at Basco Airport by Batanes Police Provincial Office (BPPO) officials led by Police Director Senior Superintendent Merwin Cuarteros.
The PNP Chief was also welcomed by regional officials Deputy Regional Director for Operations Senior Superintendent John Cornelius Jambora and Regional Police Strategy Management Unit chief Senior Superintendent Leumar Abugan.
Albayalde first attended turn-over ceremony of air condition units to BPPO.
On Saturday, June 2, the former NCRPO chief joined Governor Marilou Cayco in the unveiling of the symbolic marker of the first anniversary of Batanes’ declaration as a drug-cleared province.
The ceremony was held at Batanes Capitol and was also attended by different Municipal Anti- Drug Abuse Councils (MADAC) and Barangay Anti- Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) of the six municipalities of Batanes.
Later that day, Albayalde joined Basco Mayor Anastacia Viola for the ground breaking ceremony for the standard-type building of Basco Police Station at Barangay Kayvaluganan.
Albayalde and other PNP officials also visited Uyugan Police Station for a short dialogue with the mayor and members of Uyugan Police, Cagayan Valley Police Regional Information Office (RPIO) said.
RPIO said the PNP Chief reiterated his call to all police officers to continue the “momentum and gains” of their campaign against crimes, illegal drugs, and corruption.
Albayalde also emphasized his vow on internal cleansing within the ranks of the police.
“I expect you to equal and even surpass our achievements from the past to better serve and protect the people,” Albayalde earlier said in a speech in Tuguegarao City. Northernforum.net
