BJMP Region II receives nine transport vehicles

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Cagayan Valley received nine transport vehicles out of the 250 units that were turned over by President Rodrigo Duterte to BJMP last September 26 at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna.

On Wednesday, the nine transport vehicles were officially turned over by BJMP regional director JSSUPT Nida Gacutan-Ramos to the different municipal and district jails in the region.

The BJMP transport vehicles were received by the following jail facilities: Ilagan City District Jail, Roxas District Jail, Ballesteros District Jail, Aparri District Jail, Sta. Teresita District Jail, Lallo Municipal Jail, Solano District Jail, Maddela Municipal Jail and Tuao District Jail.

According to JSUPT Flory Sanchez, assistant regional director for administration and operations, the transport vehicles that their office has received are of big help to their transportation needs considering the significant increase in the population of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in the region.

“For this year, up to date, BJMP Region II has received a total of 16 units of transport vehicle. The bulk of transport vehicles that our office has received this year is a much relief from the transportation difficulties, if not a logistical nightmare, that our jail units have enduring for the past years,” the assistant regional director said.

The regional office lauded the present administration for the 250 transport vehicles given to the bureau, which is said to be the biggest acquisition for BJMP service vehicles and is equal to the total number of vehicles acquired by the Bureau in the last two decades.
