TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct. 24, 2018-Department of Health (DOH) conducted awareness on “MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE” with the theme ” Ingatan ang Sarili, Isip ay Pangalagaan, Ihayag ang Saloobin, Ikonsulta at Pag-usapan at DOH Conference Hall, Oct. 1, 2018.
During the program, DOH employees staged a role play, Ang kalusugan at ang pamilyang Pilipino, masaya at organisado (AKAP MO) exhibiting the mental issues in the workplace particularly on stress management.
Dr. Jerry Sagabaen, Medical Officer IV-CVMC Psychiatry Department said that the pattern of suicide cases has become alarming which the victims are mostly younger than before.
Sagabaen also said, over 1 percent of the population of the Cagayan is affected by Anxiety Disorder which has a symptoms of phobia without any stimulus.
Futhermore, these people who suffer from depression could commit suicide anytime, their coping strength is very low, he added.
Ms. Ma. Jasmin Tagudar, Non-Communicable Disease Cluster Representative conducted a survey which resulted to 171 respondents-no sign of burnout-18, little sign of burnout-106, at risk of burn out, 44 severe sign of burn out, and 3 very severe sign of burn out as of employees of DOH RO2.
Assistant Regional Director, DOH RO2 Dr. Edward Albano said “A healthy environment is the best thing to have a healthy employees in the workplace”.
The DOH also opened the new counselling room for mental health which will be used by the employees and other personnel of the community at DOH RO2 Office.
DOH advised others to report any cases in the region concerning mental health issues.
