
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Valley police arrested a retired government official from Ifugao provincial government on Thursday, March 8.
Police Regional Office 02 Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino said police nabbed Samuel Marinay, 67, retired Provincial Treasurer of Ifugao Provincial Government.
Marinay was arrested in his house in Barangay Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
Police said Marinay is wanted for graft filed against him before the Sandiganbayan over an alleged overprice contract for the purchase of second hand vehicle in 2003.
He was temporarily released from police custody after posting bail amounting P30,000, police said.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Nueva Vizcaya police caught laborer Marlon Garcia Villa, 26, from Bonfal West, Bayombong for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the “Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.”
Santiago City police also nabbed Jealaica Andres, 21, a resident of Purok 5, Dababu Grande, San Agustin, Isabela. She was arrested Dubinan West, Santiago City for the theft.
Espinos said the arrests are under their intensified campaign on Oplan Manhunt Charlie.
He added that the arrests especially that of Marinay is a result of intelligence-driven operation of police and the good tie-up with the community in providing reliable information.
“The successive arrests of wanted persons in Region 2 for the past weeks are indications that PRO2 is striving well in the campaign against wanted persons in Cagayan Valley,” Espino added. Northernforum.net
