TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- (UPDATED) Dr. Urduja “Jaye” Tejada, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)has been voted the new President of the Cagayan State University (CSU), sources from the CSU confirmed to The Northern Forum.
The CSU Board of Regents (BOR) voted 6-2-1 in favor of Tejada. Tejada won over rivals Perfecto Vivit and Vicente Binasoy.
As the new president, Tejada will sit as the vice chairman of the BOR.
She is also now the first woman to become president of the premier and largest state university in Cagayan Valley.
Tejada was the former DOST region 2 director and a multi-awarded regional director.
She graduated from the Cagayan Valley Agricultural College, now CSU Lal-lo in high school and took her degree at the Araneta University Foundation.
In an interview prior to her appointment, she said all she wanted is to help her province attain educational development through the university.
