Cagayan drugstore owner arrested for overpricing

Tuguegarao City – An owner of a pharmacy and his pharmacy assistant were arrested by the Cagayan Police Provincial Office in Tuguegarao City in an entrapment operation last Friday, April 3.

The operation is based on the strict implementation of the ‘Bayanihan Heal as One Act’ and ‘Price Act’ wherein the perpetrators violated by selling overpriced alcohol.

Apart from the instruments and items essential for the buy bust operation, one liter of alcohol with a tag price of P320 was also recovered in the said pharmacy.

According to PNP Provincial Director Col. Ariel Quilang, the suspects will be facing cases violating RA 11469 (Bayanihan Heal as One Act), RA 7581 (Price Act) as amended by RA 10623 and RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).

Quilang also added that the operation was a joint effort by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), joint personnel from Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Anti-Criminality Task Force-Cagayan PPO Team and Tuguegarao City Police Station.
