TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Cagayan distributed free prosthesis for 13 handicapped persons in the Provincial Child Development Center here on Monday, March 12.
In a press release, Social Welfare Officer III and the activity’s coordinator Restituto Vargas said the activity aims to help people especially indigents who are congenital amputees or surgical amputees.
Aside from restoring their missing body parts, Vargas also said the prosthesis helps them regain confidence with themselves and realize their self-worth.
PBF’s Fernando Santos said in the release the body parts to be replaced are also measured for the recipient.
Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) said said PSWDO the activity was done with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes (PCSO) Handicapables Association of Cagayan and the Prosthesis and Brace Center (PBF).
Handicapables Association of Cagayan President Amelia Decena assured Cagayanos who need such aid they will receive prosthesis.
She also said damaged prosthesis of beneficiaries will be measured again and replaced.
Further, CPIO said 31 other beneficiaries have been measured for prosthesis and that they will receive these from the PSWDO this May. Northernforum.net
