DAR-Apayao set to award 600 agri lands

BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES– The Department of Agrarian Reform in Apayao province will award to farmer-beneficiaries 600 agricultural lands covering an area of 700 hectares in Sta. Marcela and Flora towns.

In a Facebook live interview, Provincial Agrarian Reform program officer Deogracias Almora, the lands are considered agricultural alienable and disposable covered by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources but were turned over to DAR for coverage under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

The interview was conducted by the Tuguegarao-based The Northern Forum newspaper.

Under the Land Tenure Support Services, all of the four landholdings which came from these areas have Approved Survey Plans as their department had validated at least 80 percent of the 600 beneficiaries through Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries screening and profiling.

Almora said another 200 hectares are expected to be issued with individual titles to some 150 farmer-beneficiaries this year.

ÐAR Regional Director Marjorie Ayson said the program will help the local government units of both towns to increase revenues,

“They should turn those areas into productive agricultural lands and produce more corn and bananas,” Ayson said.

Almora urged the beneficiaries to pay their taxes promptly to avoid penalties. Jun Roque/BSY/Northernforum.net
