BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya– The province has partially reported more than P600 million typhoon-damages on agriculture and infrastructure projects while affecting more than 6,000 families due to the recent onslaught of typhoon ‘Karen’ and ‘Lawin’.
Genaro Basilio,Jr., officer in charge of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), said typhoon ‘Karen’ has damaged more than P333 million worth of roads, and bridges, P.3 million worth of flood control projects and more than P8.2 million worth of damages to residential and commercial buildings.
Typhoon ‘Karen’ also brought in more than P.5 million worth of damages to livestock, more than P12 million to crops and more than P3.5 million to irrigation systems in the province.
“It also affected 4,886 families with 20,951 persons and partially and totally damaged 2,916 and 436 houses respectively,” Basilio said.
For typhoon ‘Lawin’, the province suffered damages on infrastructure with more than P43.7 million on roads and bridges, P.22 million on flood control projects and more than P5.2 million on residential and commercial buildings.
‘Lawin’ also destroyed more than P.173 million worth of livestock, more than P208 million worth of crops and more than P2.3 million worth of irrigation facilities.
Basilio said ‘Lawin’ also affected 1,764 families with 7,566 persons while bringing in 488 partially damaged houses and 5 totally damaged houses.
He, however, said that the report on ‘Lawin’ is still partial as some municipalities are yet to submit their damage report to the council.
