Chief Inspector Pepito Mendoza Jr, Aparri acting chief of police, said suspect Geronimo Iquin was apprehended in a hotel in Macanaya village in his hometown Aparri.

Iquin allegedly shot Ernesto Paras Jr, a traffic enforcer in Holy Spirit village in Quezon City, last week after the latter tried to remove his car’s license plate due to a parking violation.

Aparri police chief Mendoza said they received an information from the Tuguegarao City police station that Iquin left the city for Aparri on Monday night.

Mendoza said Iquin confessed to crime, admitting that he even stayed with his relatives in Tuguegarao before he knew that the authority are already running after him.

Iquin reportedly said he left his Honda civic car and the 9 mm pistol he used in the crime in San Roque village in Antipolo City, Rizal.

The crime was caught in a close circuit television camera (CCTV).

The footage showed Paras, who noticed that there is no one inside the violating car, removing the car’s license plate before the suspect showed up.

The two had a heated argument before the suspect was seen getting a gun from his car then shoot Paras several times. He even ran over the suspect as he left the crime scene.
