TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) now accepts alternative documents and requirements for processing of funeral, death, and survivorship claims.
In a press release, GSIS said this is to facilitate and provide members convenience in processing for such claims.
For funeral benefits, GSIS now accepts valid passport or original birth certificate issued by a local civil registrar (LCR) for claimants who are not the spouse of the deceased member or pensioner and is not a government employee.
Further, GSIS said claimants may submit an LCR-certified death certificate of the deceased member or pensioner in the absence of a Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA)-issued document to claim funeral, death, and survivorship benefit.
Processing and payment of survivorship claims will only commence when all documentary requirements have been submitted, GSIS said.
“Previously, only two government-issued valid IDs bearing the claimant’s birthday and signature, or birth certificate issued by the PSA were accepted by the GSIS,” the state pension fund said.
Other requirements for interested members are detailed in the GSIS website. Northernforum.net
