TESDA warns public on unregistered driving schools in Region 2

2 min read

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Following an assessment of the escalating driving schools in the region, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has warned the public of unregistered and unaccredited driving schools.

Nestor Ave, officer-in-charge, said none among the driving schools in the region is accredited and registered with TESDA, which is the only authorize agency to authenticate certifications that the driving schools are issuing to their students.

Ave said if the certification issued by the driving schools will be used for employment abroad, it would be useless because the documents will go back to TESDA for authentication.

“How can we issue authentications if these driving schools are not accredited by TESDA? We cannot evaluate their operations if it is not within the standards,” Ave said.

He also urged Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) not to issue permit and registration to the said institutions without accreditation and registration from TESDA.

Ave said all institutions that are offering skills training and vocational courses should be TESDA-registered and all certifications issued should be authenticated when used for employment. PIA
