Cagayan remains ‘Bird-Flu’ free, PVET continues local probe

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – After conducting tests in several Cagayan towns, the Provincial Veterinary Office has reported that the province is still free of Avian Influenza or ‘Bird Flu.’

According to the PVET’s report, among the birds included in their surveillane and testing are ducks, chicken and local turkeys.

Negative results came from blood samples of the said birds in eight towns of the province.

The towns of Claveria, Sta Ana, Enrile, Sta Teresita, Penablanca, Buguey, Aparri and Gonzaga were the initial towns investigated with negative results yielded.

The PVET added that they are continuously checking the rest of the province to ensure the avian disease is tracked and managed.

Based on the Cagayan Provincial Information Office’s report, the PVET has teams deployed to the northern town of Camalaniugan for probing.

The said surveillance operations have stemmed from recent positive results garnered in nearby areas such as Ilocos Norte and Isabela. TNF
