TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – In a conference with the media, Kapehan sa Kapitolyo on November 14, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) region 2 said that Cagayan International Gateway Project will set the pace for the region 2 to compete and trade in the international arena.
DTI Assistant Regional Director Winston Singun said that the absence of international trade area in a strategic place is the reason behind the slow development of a province.
“Mas madali at mas maraming investors ang maeenganyo na mamuhunan sa probinsya maging ang mga buyers kung mayroong mas mabilis na access tulad ng seaport at airport,” he pointed out during the conference.
Meanwhile, DTI also said that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are not given access to the trade due to little network and resources.
“Ang mga mauunlad na rehiyon ay mayroon ding mauunlad na airport at seaports dahil malapit sila sa market at hindi na bibyahe ng 500 kilometer,” the DTI assistant director said.
Cagayan Governor Manuel N. Mamba has been pushing for the said project while investors have already shown interest. TNF
