Over P38-M worth of agri damages in Cagayan due to TS Paeng

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Following record flooding in Cagayan brought by tropical storm ‘Paeng’ last week, a hefty P38,984,008 worth of agricultural damages has been logged by the provincial government.

Based on the initial reports of the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, a total of P12,564,470 worth of damages to rice crops and around P14,155,727 worth of damages to corn crops have been recorded in several towns.

As for livestock damage, over P250,000 worth of damages and losses have also been estimated in many towns including hard-hit Amulung, Lal-lo and Tuguegarao City.

According to collated reports, over 1,000 farmers in Cagayan have been affected by the wide-spread flooding brought by the weather disturbance.

State meteorologists have described that the amount of rain dispersed by PaengPH is close to the recorded figures from typhoon Ulysses of 2020. TNF
