TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- As of August 2015, there are 3,451,410 people in Cagayan Valley, based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015).
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said this is 0.22 million higher compared with the 2010 population of 3.2 million. PSA further said the current population is three times bigger than the region’s population of one million in 1960.
In the 2015 POPCEN, Isabela had the largest population with 1,593,566, followed by Cagayan with 1,199,320. Overall, the two provinces account for 80.92% of the region’s population, PSA reported.
PSA said this means the region has an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.27%.
Nueva Vizcaya was the fastest growing province in the region, having an average annual PGR of 1.36 % during the period 2010 to 2015.
Batanes has the smallest population with 17,246.
Meanwhile, the Philippines now has a total population of 100,981,437 according to the recent POPCEN.
