TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya will receive its second consecutive Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award in Manila on December 12.
In a press release, the provincial government said this revealed in the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony in Crown Pavilion Hotel, this city on November 28.
“The CROWN Award is given to local government units that have continuously intensified efforts to improve the nutrition situation through effective management of local nutrition program,” Nueva Vizcaya government said.
Together with Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Doctor Edwin Galapon and Provincial Nutrition Division’s Luzviminda Ragpa, former Governor Ruth Padilla represented her husband Governor Carlos Padilla in receiving the Plaque of Recognition during the ceremony in this city.
Nueva Vizcaya government said they will have to maintain a score of 98% next year in the monitoring and evaluation of nutrition program implementation to pass their 3rd CROWN. If this happens, they will also receive the Honor Award, the highest award in Nutrition.
Meanwhile, the release said Santa Fe town received its second Regional Green Banner award. Provincial Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Ethel Tomas of Baracbac, Santa Fe also ranked fourth in the Regional Outstanding BNS.
The provincial government also said the National Nutrition Council (NNC) recognized non-government organizations that “actively participated and contributed to the implementation of nutrition programs in Region 02.”
The awardees were the the province’s Rural Improvement Club Federation and the Nueva Vizcaya Abot Palad Association.
In 2013, the provincial government, under then-Governor Ruth Padilla, was conferred as GREEN Banner awardee for the first time.
Meanwhile, the town of Ivana, Batanes will also receive the same award while the City of Ilagan will be awarded for the first time. Northernforum.net
