TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Tropical Storm Odette has made landfall over Santa Ana town in Cagayan around 1 am on Thursday, October 13.
State weather bureau PAGASA said Odette has intensified prior to landfall and is packing maximum winds of up to 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph near center. It is moving 30 kilometers per hour (kph).
The following areas were placed under Storm Signal Number 2:
- Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands
- Batanes
- Ilocos Norte
- Apayao
These provinces were declared under Signal Number 1:
- Isabela
- Abra
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Sur
- Kalinga
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday evening.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains is expected within the 350 kilometers diameter of the tropical depression. Residents in these areas advised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.
They also warned fisherfolk and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of northern and central Luzon due to approaching tropical depression. Northernforum.net
