Tuguegarao City – The Quirino Police Provincial Office arrested a local of Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Diffun for the violation of the “The Price Act” or RA 7581 for selling ethyl alcohol beyond the suggested retail price (SRP).
The seller was arrested in a buy bust operation when he was selling ethyl alcohol for P850 per gallon. An estimated 178 gallons of ethyl alcohol worth P151,300.00 were collected during the operation. The violator also did not have any pertinent documents to support his business of selling the unlabeled alcohol seized by the Police.
After the operation, DTI Provincial Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag said “Social concern should be observed especially in this time of crisis to protect the interest of the buying public.”
Narag also expressed that she is hopeful that the incident will not happen again and that this will serve as a warning to everyone, especially businessmen out there to be more responsible during this time of crisis.
