
A total of 218 packs of relief goods were distributed yesterday, April 01, 2020 to the students in the city who were stranded due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
John Lhoid Narag, president of the Rotaract Club of Tuguegarao District 3770 spearheaded the relief operation.
“It all started when a student of CSU-Carig from Calayan Island sent us a message asking for something to eat”, Narag said.
Narag said that the distribution was made after addressing the issue to the 3rd District Board Member Atty. Mila Catabay-Lauigan who helped him gather goods and donations.
Narag is a first year BS in Education major in Social Science student of Cagayan State University-Andrews campus.
“I felt pitty for that student, and I think, I had to do something that night”, he added.
With the support of Tuguegarao City Mayor Atty. Jefferson Soriano, Rotary Club of Tuguegarao President and City Councilor Boyet Ortiz, RAC Pres. John Escobar, Dra. Zsa Zsa Meneses, Harry Alegado of Peer Helpers Organization of UCV, Tuguegarao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (TCDRRMO) and City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), the relief operation was made successful.
Meanwhile, Narag clarified that the students who received the food packs came from different institutions, both public and private schools.
In addition, he said in his message that the Rotaract is always open to accept donations and any form of help for the stranded students in the city.
