TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- City Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the public needs a “little sacrifice” in following the city’s traffic scheme.
“It cannot be nu awayya nga masingo ngamin. Mawak nga egga batti sakripisyo tam. Yari batti nga sakripisyo ay y pallevu,” he said.
“Later on people will realize na yari batti nga sakripisyo (this little sacrifice) will bring order to our city,” he added.
This as Soriano spoke in SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown’s first Christmas launch on Friday night, November 10.
Island barricades have also been placed in some roads in the city’s central business district to prevent immediate u-turns and to facilitate traffic.
Mayor Soriano, however, admitted that many motorists have yet to fully complied with the traffic system introduced in preparation of SM mall’s opening last October.
Soriano said the city government is “looking at a new possible scheme” to address the flow of traffic in the city.
“Binagu mi y system (we change the system) every now and then, and then we include that in our new traffic scheme,” he said.
This was also in response to the issue on traffic concerns as the city welcomes big investors over the next years.
Meanwhile, the mayor said the city council is creating new ordinances that will support the coming in of investors. Northernforum.net
