TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- (UPDATED) Five people were killed while dozens were injured when two passenger vans figured in crash in Cagayan Sunday morning, October 1.
Police identified the fatalities as Reynalda Tolentino, Erlinda Duran, Marivic Battung, Floraida Sales and Hemilita Cadiz.
In a phone interview, Police Senior Inspector Manuel Viloria Jr of Amulung town said the Isuzu passenger van, driven by Romtum Bartolome, was heading to Baggao town when its tire blew out and hit an approaching Toyota passenger van in Barangay Baculud around 10 am on Sunday.
Police said the Isuzu van was carrying 15 passengers, while the Toyata van was carrying four passengers.
Amulung police investigators also said no passenger died on the spot and all of them were brought to a hospital in Cagayan for treatment.
Information obtained by Northern Forum revealed that at least one of the passengers died while being treated in the hospital.
The wounded victims are now being treated in Cagayan Valley Medical Center and Divine Mercy Wellness Center in Tuguegarao, a source said. Northernforum.net
