TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has approved the additional P86 million fund for the for financial assistance to the families of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who suffered from the wrath of super typhoon Lawin.
The release of the fund came after P20 million fund in Cagayan Valley region was depleted.
OWWA-Cagayan Valley Director Robert Bassig said P34 million of the fund will be given to Cagayan Valley, Bombo Radyo Tuguegarao reported.
The remaining amount will be disbursed for the families of OFWs in Cordillera and Ilocos regions.
Bassig said they have already extended cash aid to over 9,000 beneficiaries in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.
He said they will begin the distribution again as soon as they receive the fund. –Northernforum.net
