TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Cagayan said they have recorded lower number of stray bullet and firecracker-related incidents this year so far.
In a statement on Wednesday, December 28, Jane Taguinod, Disease Surveilance Coordinator of the Provincial Epidemiology Surveilance Unit of PHO, said the number is down by 40%, based on the reported incidents from December 21-28 this year.
Taguinod said only 3 cases were reported them compared to last year, which had 5 cases on the same span of dates.
The victims this year were 9-year old and 8-year boys from Sto Niño and Ballesteros towns respectively. Both are victims of lantaka (improvised bamboo cannon).
A 66-year old woman from Gattaran was reported to be a victim of stray bullet.
Taguinod said they are monitoring incidents like these until the celebration of New Year. -Northernforum.net
