TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Government of Cagayan awarded educational assistance to 268 scholars and released honoraria of barangay workers, in a ceremony in Cagayan Sports Complex, this city, on Thursday, January 4.
In a press release, Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) said “poor but deserving” college students received P6,000 as educational aide for two semesters.
Meanwhile, 85 day care workers each got P6,000 as honorarium. CPIO Officer-in-Charge Rogelio Sending said each day care workers’ monthly honorarium was doubled from P250.00 to P500 per month, under Governor Manuel Mamba.
Further, Sending said barangay nutrition scholars and barangay health workers’ monthly rate was also increased from P100 to P250.
CPIO said this was through the “No Barangay Left Behind Fund” which gives P500,000 development assistance to each of the 820 barangays in the province.
The said program, approved in the 2017 budget, allocates P200,000 for scholarships and honoraria, and P300,000 for infrastructure development.
The delayed budget was approved last December. (READ: TIMELINE: The delayed approval of Cagayan’s 2017 budget)
