ILAGAN CITY, Isabela—Valley Cops arrested eight (8) Individuals including two (2) minors in a joint police operation in Ilagan City, Isabela yesterday, March 12, 2019.
In its intensified implementation against illegal logging, Isabela Police Provincial Office Provincial Director PSSUPT Mariano C Rodriguez in his report, “Police Station received report that a green Isuzu truck with plate number UEZ 561 loaded with undocumented sawn lumbers are to be transported from the municipality of San Mariano to barangay Namnama, Ilagan City.”
Report says that joint personnel of Ilagan City Police Station and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Ilagan City immediately conducted an operation and were able to flagged down the said truck when it was about to approach the lumber yard area. The suspects failed to present legal documents of the said illegally cut lumbers which prompted the police to arrest them.
Moreover, the arrested suspects were identified as Sonny A. Adorable- 47 years old and owner of the lumber inside the yard; Jenelyn B Ulep, 39 years old, William DL Laggui, 37 years old; Joven L Zipagan, 21 years old; Gino Z Managuelod, 19 years old; Michael DL Laggui, 19 years old; John Sena (minor, Not his real Name) and James lee (minor, not his real name).
During the inventory of confiscated pieces of evidence, the police were able to confiscate a total of 1,285 pieces (in different sizes) lumbers equivalent to 17,061 board feet with market value of more or less Php 700,000.00; two (2) Units of Isuzu truck; three (3) Units of abandoned motorcycle and Two (2) Units of circular saw with one generator set.
The suspects and the confiscated lumbers and equipment were taken into custody by the police and case of violation of Presidential Decree 705 is being prepared against the suspects. northernforum.net
