TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Electrive Cooperative (CAGELCO) I’s transformer in its Carig substation has been energized, General Manager Engineer Tito Lingan told the media on Friday, December 29.
Lingan said they previously thought the power transformer was damaged but after a technical group conducted an evaluation, they found out that one connection was “floating” and “not connected.”
“Nakita nila its not the power transformer that had the problem but rather the wiring na nginatngat ng mga daga. Nagkaroon ng shortage doon sa wiring. They replaced or temporarily ginawan lang ng paraan [at] inayos-ayos lang yung mga nginatngat just so they will not go in contact with each other.” he explained.
After several tripping to transfer some feeders, the Carig susbtation is now servicing three feeders, Lingan said. This includes lines from Carig to Anquiray, Amulung; the regional center, and area of Bartolome street, Caggay, this city.
Cagelco I will still purchase a new transformer in the area, the general manager also said.
With this, all substations have lessened loads. “In short kokonti, nashorten na yung feeder line. In case na may interruption, konti na lang yung mga consumer ang apektado,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lingan said their office will improve their services and system in 2018. He said they will put up new substations in Tuguegarao and Iguig.
The transformer in Alcala, Cagayan was upgraded from five to 10 Mega Volt Amp.
Cagelco I is also preparing for the opening of Robinsons mall and its hotel, City Mall, some hospitals, and other food chains. Lingan said there is “no problem” with their load because they are ready to supply power in the said establishments.
He said they will also revive mobile substations. “Bubuhayin naming yung mobile substation para anytime merong problem sa ating substation, anytime we may pull that mobile substation and then ilagay dun sa substation na may sira. Ididikit ang natin yan i-connect and then we can energize na,” he said. Northernforum.net
