TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Around 1000 participants are expected to join Couples for Christ-Youth for Christ’s (CFC-YFC) Northeastern Luzon Regional Youth Congress in Enrile, Cagayan on October 28-29.
The focus of the biennial congress is “I Declare” which aims to solidify the declaration of youth on their faith to Jesus Christ, and to embrace their identities of children of God.
In Philippine Information Agency Region 02’s Tipon-Tipan on Wednesday, October 11, CFC-YFC Cagayan’s Orly Trinidad said this event seeks to redirect the youth today from resorting to drugs and other vices.
YFC Enrile Chapter Head Cristal Lappay said the event is also in line with the organization’s 100% Free advocacy which aims to promote drug and alcohol-free youth.
Youth groups from different parishes and schools in seven provinces from Batanes to Ifugao will attend the two-day overnight event.
Isabela Pastoral Worker and YFC member Lee Asuro said participants will have 10 workshop discussions focusing on matters for the youth such as personality development. To further understand the beauty of their faith, the participants will also have catechism and counseling sessions.
Aside from the discussions, the event will also feature dances, band, sports events, and other ball games.
CFC-YFC said they are coordinating with the local government unit of Enrile for the event.
Trinidad said Enrile was chosen as the venue because it makes the event focused more on the activity, away from the distractions of urban life in Tuguegarao City.
The registration fee is P450. This covers food and snacks, accommodation, and congress kits. Participants are asked to bring their own dining utensils as part of the group’s Green Generation Project environmental advocacy.
YFC-CFC is an international Catholic Christian group present in 180 countries. They also hold activities such as youth camps, and are present in schools nationwide. Northernforum.net
