TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Six of the 7 candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections who are included in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) drug list withdrew their bid ahead of May 14 polls in Tuao, Cagayan.
This came amid police’s campaign to the public not to support candidates who have alleged illegal drug ties.
In a press release on Thursday, May 10, the Cagayan provincial information office (CPIO) said the Tuao police confirmed the information, saying 7th candidate is now nowhere to be seen in town.
This would mean there are no longer candidates for barangay officials in Tuao town who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
In an interview on Monday, May 7, PNP Cagayan police chief Senior Superintendent Warren Tolito admitted there are both incumbent and aspiring officials who filed their candidacy. Northernforum.net
