CAUAYAN CITY, Philippines- President Rodrigo Duterte’s move for the reimposition of death penalty in the country is an effective deterrent against heinous crimes, said Ysmael Atienza, head of the Isabela Anti-Crime Task Force (IACTF).
“We support the move of the President to revive the implementation of death penalty as it will deter individuals to commit heinous crimes,” Atienza said, adding that for fear of suffering harsh punishment, the public will be discouraged to commit crimes.
As stated in his second State of the Nations Address (SONA recently, Atienza said the President has been doing his best to make the country peaceful and orderly with a sound economy.
Atienza said if and when the death penalty will be revived, the number of major crimes like murder and homicide will be reduced.
“The bad elements will be afraid to do whatever they want, from dealing drugs to killing other people,” the anti-crime task force head said. Merlito Egdale/PIA
