TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A farmer died after his motorcycle collided with a Foton closed van along the national highway in Barangay Minagbag, Quezon, Isabela on Saturday, June 9.
In a report sent by police to Forum, the victim was identified as Orlando Dela Cruz, 66, while the driver of the said truck was identified as Vincent Taguinod, 45, from Cagayan.
Police said Dela Cruz tried to evade signages installed along his lane and “inadvertently encroached other lane and reportedly failed to recognize the approaching truck.”
The resulting collision led to the two vehicles bumping head on, police added.
Investigation also revealed that debris were seen/noted at the lane of closed van.
Rescue 819 and personnel of Quezon rushed Dela Cruz to Quezon Community Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.
Witnesses and Taguinod were brought to Quezon Police Station for further investigation on the incident for proper disposition, police said.
Meanwhile earlier that day, a family of three was injured in another vehicular crash in Gaddangao, Rizal, Cagayan.
Police said in a report that farmer Aldrin Simangan, 26, his wife Glory, 27, and their five-year old daughter were riding a motorcycle when suspect Melvin Soriano, 28, in his motorcycle occupied the victims’ lane.
Rizal police said Soriano was allegedly drunk.
The victims and the suspect were rushed to Tuao District Hospital after sustaining injuries on the different parts of their body.
They were later transferred to Cagayan Valley Medical Center, this city.
Cagayan Valley Police have earlier repeatedly reminded the public to observe road safety precautions and avoid drinking liquor when travelling. Northernforum.net
