STA. TERESITA, Philippines– Congressman Ramon Nolasco of the1st Congressional District of Cagayan will soon file a new law to amend some provisions of the existing Republic Act 7922 or the Cagayan Economic Zone Act of 1995.
‘I’ve already talk with CEZA Administrator Raul Lambino that I will file the bill,” he told more than five thousand Cagayanos who attended the opening ceremonies of the 3rd Namunit- 6th National Ecotourism Festival at Barangay Luga here.
He said the bill will include all the northern coastal towns of Cagayan so as to share with the financial support from the national government.
Nolasco questioned the provisions of RA 78922 which included only the municipality of Sta. Ana and the islands of Fuga, Barit and Mabbag in Aparri. He admitted that the biggest bulk of tourism and DPWH money goes to Sta. Ana because of the presence of CEZA.
“If we talk about CEZA, why only Sta. Ana,” he added.
Earlier, Secretary Lambino told Cagayan media of his plan to include all coastal municipalities of both first and second district of the province and assured his office had finalized amendments to the CEZA law for filing.
Referring to Sta. Ana, he questions why under RA 7922, only a single town has the privileged to such a bug funding.
While Sta. Ana offers white-sand beaches, he believed Sta. Teresita has more to offer like its lake where a new fiber for fabric had been discovered. He assured Sta. Teresita bigger appropriations for its various tourism programs and projects. Northernforum.net
