TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—The Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and Commission on Election ensured the peaceful and orderly conduct of 2019 midterm election during the press conference today, February 21, 2019.
A total of 506 firearms including 125 long and 381 short firearms were voluntarily surrendered to the PNP within the provincial level.
Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, PSUPT Edward Guzman said that 465 are listed while 41 loose firearms are not listed.
Guzman added on the Kontra Boga Operations which already arrested 26 individuals.
Provincial Director, PSSUPT Ignacio Cumigad Jr. emphasized their intensified campaign against loose firearms, “this campaign will not stop and we will continue to take action to those violators who uphold lawlessness”.
“The COMELEC and PNP partnership gives safeguard to the streets of our community and with this, the crime volume in our province decreased about 30 percent which gave a favourable result”, Cumigad added.
Atty. Manuel Castillo Jr., Provincial Comelec Officer expressed that he is proud to the accomplishment of COMELEC-PNP in making the streets safer.
“So far, the COMELEC continues to be strict in the implementation of Election Gun Ban”, Castillo added.
Election Watch list
Based on Castillo’s statement, there are four municipalities under the watch list of the COMELEC and one more is believed to be cropping up.
The municipalities were not mentioned for security purposes but the COMELEC assured that the agency will strictly regulate this municipalities.
