Sta. Teresita High, Central School win Namunit drum and lyre 2018

SANTA TERESITA, Cagayan- Santa Teresita National High School (STNHS) and Santa Teresita Central School (STCS) topped this year’s Drum and Lyre Competition as part of this town’s 3rd Namunit Festival opening day on Wednesday, March 07.

With their win, both schools bagged trophies and P15,000 each for their school.

Meanwhile, the other nine elementary schools who participated in the contest each got P5,000 consolation prize for their school.

Being the only participant in the high school division, STNHS still proved their worthiness for the title by showing a nearly-flawless performance and even rendering a piece of CamilIa Cabello’s hit song “Havana.”

Meanwhile, bands from the elementary level also played popular songs “Baby Shark.”

Nearly a thousand people composed mainly of eager parents wanting to see their children perform also witnessed the opening event in Luga National High School, beside the town’s Bakong facility. Beside the school, the local government also put up a trade fair.

The competition kicked off the start of this town’s 6th ecotourism festival which, this year, highlights the town’s Namunit hills as a potential tourism destination.

Earlier in the day, the bands already took part in the parade around the town, leading their delegation and their representatives for the Search for “Diwata at Prinsipe ng Kalikasan.”

Later that night, students once again performed creative dances and jingles. Northernforum.net
