Cagayan to beef up security for Aggao 2018

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Provincial Government has formed an incident management task force for Aggao nac Cagayan 2018 as thousands of tourists, pilgrims, and Cagayanos are expected to witness the annual celebration this June.

Dubbed as “Mission: Oplan Kaligtasan,” the incident management team (IMT) will be divided on two fronts: north and south, and will be headed by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Officer (PDRRMO) Bonifacio Cuarteros.

The north team will cater Gattaran to Aparri towns while the south team will cover Alcala to Tuguegarao towns.

The provincial government will hold several events in the northern part of the province to keep in line with the theme of this year’s Aggao which is “Cagayan looking northward.”

Some 300 personnel from the combined force of the police, army, and bureau of fire will join the provincial government in carrying out security efforts.

Tuguegarao City Police chief Superintendent George Cabralda will serve as the incident commander for the south team while Lieutenant Colonel Rommel Bogñalbal will head the north team.

In a press conference on Monday, June 11, Cuarteros said they will form event action plans for each activity, especially in events that are expected to net huge number of participants and audience.

“The objective of our team is to secure and have an organized and successful Aggao nac Cagayan…If we have VIP visitors, they will be well-guarded,” Cuarteros said.

Expected guests are Senator Koko Pimentel and Senator Sonny Angara. Governor Manuel Mamba said Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos is insisting to be invited.

Curateros has also tasked quick response teams (QRTs) and special action teams to provide support for event security when needed.

Activities for the Aggao Nac Cagayan 2018 will begin on Saturday, June 23, and will end on Sunday, July 1. Northernforum.net
