STO. NINO, Cagayan—Rotary Club District 3770 of Rotary International and Rotary Club Tuguegarao inaugurated and turned over the newly built water system to selected public schools in Sto. Nino and Sta. Maria yesterday, June 27.
In Sto. Nino, Cagayan, specifically Matalao Elementary School received the water system donated by the Rotary Club. The water system has an estimated 400 beneficiaries including 173 students and more than 200 households.
During the turn over ceremonies, Rufito “Raffy” C. Pagauitan, President and Project Director of Rotary Rainbow Club said to the beneficiaries that it is their purpose to share the blessing to the people. “There will be more projects to come and we will not stop helping those people who need things like this”, he added.
The project water system aims to provide drinkable-clean water together with Cheongju Leaders Rotary e-Clubs of South Korea.
Meanwhile, at Sta. Maria, Isabela, same activity was conducted at San Isidro East Elementary School during the afternoon. Pagauitan stated “Families in remote municipalities in the Provinces of Cagayan and Isabela will likely continue to endure difficult living due to high levels of unemployment. Insufficient government support and other social problems”. “However, providing adequate potable drinking water is a financial issue rather than a technical one. As part of is continuing service, the project water system will not only help the community to live with ease but will also ensure their health in having clean water”, Pagauitan said.
The water system project total cost was Php 2,301,125.00 which now caters to 420 households. northernforum.net
