TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Government has allotted P9 million budget for its delegates in this year’s Cagayan Valley Regional Athletics Association (CAVRAA) meet.
In a press release by the provincial government’s Chriezel Calimag, Nueva Vizcaya Division Office Sports Division Coordinator Roger Sebastian said the budget was approved by the Provincial Local School Board (PLSB) during their first quarter meeting on Monday, January 29.
Sebastian said in the release that the budget will cover expenses for uniforms, sports equipment, office supplies, meals, travel or fuel, rental of playing venues, honoraria, and communication.
Some 635 athletes including 33 athletes with disability from Nueva Vizcaya will compete in the 2018 CAVRAA meet.
Like other divisions, Nueva Vizcaya athletes are undergoing 40-day in-house rigid training since January 13.
“The athletes already underwent the first two phases of the training, the conditioning phase and specialization. We started the third phase, the tune-up phase and eventually the 15 day evaluation,” Sebastian said in the release.
Sebastian added in the release that Nueva Vizcaya delegates are “working harder” to regain the CAVRAA crown for the province.
Further, Nueva Vizcaya Division Office also proposed an additional budget of P3 million for additional events as mandated by the Palarong Pambansa. These events include Indonesian martial art “pencak silat,” aerogymnastics, women’s Sepak Takraw, 3-on-3 basketball, dance sport, futsal, wrestling, wushu, and boxing.
Meanwhile, defending champions Cagayan has secured over P23 million fund for its delegates.
Further, Isabela division is also wrapping up its 40-day in-house training whiel Batanes delegation has arrived in this city last week.
The 2018 CAVRAA meet will be held on February 25 to March 2 in this city. Northernforum.net
