TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- As this city opens its new police station on Friday, June 1, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde told police officers to treat people equally regardless of their social status.
“Kahit sino pa man whether yung mayor n’yo o yung pulubi diyan, o yung naghihirap sa squatter area, kung meron man kayong [paglingkuran], dapat pantay-pantay ang tingin sa ating mga kababayan,” Albayalde said in his speech.
Albayalde arrived in this city on Friday to serve as guest of honor for the inauguration and blessing of several of Police Regional Office 02’s facilities and buildings including the new Tuguegarao City police station.
“There will be no politicians, no rich or poor, pantay-pantay ang tingin natin sa ating mga kababayan. We will serve our people without fear or favor…I hope dito sa city of tuguegarao hindi po mangyayari yan,” Albayalde said as he addressed the police force.
The former NCRPO chief challenged police officers to “draw the line” in order to change such kind of “culture and attitude.” Instead, all of them must provide service and protection to all citizens.
“Wag po tayong mamili, wag po tayong tumingin sa status ng isang kababayan natin dahil ito ang nakakasama sa ating imahe. Kung gaano kaganda itong istasyon ninyo dapat ganun din kaganda ang pagseserbisyo n’yo sa ating mga kababayan. Hindi dapat ito lip service lang,” he added.
Albayalde also reiterated his vow to instill discipline and facilitate internal cleansing within the PNP. He said if police officers start change within themselves, the police will achieve their goal in “bringing genuine public service to the people.”
“Sa pagiging disiplinado, magkakaroon tayo ng respeto sa ating sarili bilang mga alagad ng batas na gumagawa ng tama at sumusunod at rumerespeto sa ating mga commander at lider,” the PNP chief said.
Meanwhile, Albayalde also commended Cagayan Valley regional police for their continuous anti crime and drugs campaign.

He also challenged the Valley Cops to surpass their achievements to better serve and protect the people.
“We will maintain that momentum. Wala akong gagawin on my own na brand name ko ang sa akin sabi ko while we are doing this war on drugs we will just intensify our internal cleansing, our internal discipline. Para magbago yung attitude ng ating kapulisan,” he added. Northernforum.net
