TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Thirty-nine Technological Vocational Education Training (TVET) were hired on-the-spot during the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) Job Fair as part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), August 25.
The WCO was conducted as a simultaneous event all-over the country which was aimed to give a chance to unemployed TVET graduates and was conducted at the TESDA Region 2 Complex.
According to TESDA DOS, the WCO in Cagayan resulted with 15 TVET graduates hired on-the-spot while 70 were nearly hired and 114 were considered qualified.
19 employers were present during the event, 14 of which were local, one national and four overseas employers.
Furthermore, during the WCO Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (NV), 24 TVET graduates were hired on-the-spot, 60 were nearly hired and 25 were just qualified.
Six local employers and one overseas employers assessed the applicants.
In addition, Mr. Roumel Estimada, Safety Officer and President of the NV Trainers, Assessors Organization conducted a lecture on Occupational Health and Safety for the 309 applicants at Bayombong.
In an earlier interview, Mr. Venancio Balisi, Head of TESDA said that the conduct of the event will be a big help in aiding the region’s employment rate.
Present in the event was Cagayan Governor Manuel N. Mamba, TESDA Regional Director Demetrio Anduyan, TESDA Cagayan Director Romeo Talosig and other TESDA officials.
