TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The city government here opened on Wednesday its new “Command Center” which will serve as the central hub for emergency situations.
Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the center will be the real-time monitoring center of all incidents occurring all over the city through the 56 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in various strategic areas here.
“This is part of the city’s fast and prompt service when it comes to safety, peace and order, disaster response and other emergencies,” Soriano said.
He also stated that one significant function of the hub is to ensure proper implementation of the city’s traffic regulations, especially with the installation of the new traffic lights.
The city government partnered with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster and Management Office, Traffic Management Group, and the City Public Order and Safety Office in manning the center which is located at the 5th floor of the city hall building.
Meanwhile, City Chief of Police George Cablarda expressed gratitude for the establishment of the center as it will greatly help the police in resolving crimes through the footages captured by the CCTV cameras.
