TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A grain mill operator and a foreman were killed in separate vehicle-related incidents in Cagayan and Isabela on Sunday, November 26.
Benjamine Liquigan, 50, a foreman from Buntun, this city died after hitting a parked tricycle along neighbor-barangay Bagay.
Police said, according to a witness, the victim was driving his motorcycle at high speed before sideswiping the tricycle. The victim was thrown from his motorcycle, sustaining serious injury.
Meanwhile, a nine-year old girl inside the hit tricycle also sustained minor injuries. The girl was rushed to Peoples General Hospital and has since been released.
Rescue 1111 responded and brought Liquigan to Cagayan Valley Medical Center but the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
In Naguillian, Isabela, a pedestrian later identified as Jun Torres, 42, operator of Super Star Five grain mill from San Mateo, Isabela was hit by a sedan in Barangay Palattao, said town.
Police said the driver of the car saw the victim at the center of the road while crossing to the other side. The driver, 48-year old businessman Darwin Pimentel, blew his horn as warning but Torres reportedly ignored and moved forward the incoming vehicle.
Torres sustained serious injuries and was rushed by the Rescue 831 to Isabela Doctors General Hospital in Ilagan City, Isabela but he died while being treated.
Police later revealed that Torres was positive in alcoholic breath test. Northernforum.net
