Cagayan capitol advises public of barangay election scam

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– The Office of Governor Manuel Mamba released an advisory on Wednesday, August 16, warning public of scammers using Mamba’s office to collect a fee for a position in case the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections do not push on October 2017.

“Mariin na ipinababatid sa publiko lalo na sa mga mamamayang Cagayanos na walang sinumang indibidwal, grupo o asosasyon ang inatasan ni Gov. Manuel Mamba para maglibot sa Cagayan na mag-recruit ng mga di-umano ay ipapalit sa mga barangay officials sakaling hindi matuloy ang barangay at SK elections sa October 2017,” the advisory, released through the Cagayan Provincial Information Office Facebook page, said.

(We emphatically inform the public, especially the Cagayanos, that Gov. Manuel Mamba did not assign any individual, group or association, to recruit for possible replacement of barangay officials in case  barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections do not push on October 2017.)

Some groups have been allegedly going around posing as Capitol employees and asking for P300 as registration.

The Cagayan government branded the acts as “double-dealing.”

They urged the public to inform the Capitol, through the mobile number 09189414695, if they experience such cases.

The House of Representatives  committee on suffrage and electoral reforms on Monday, August 14, have passed the bill pushing for the postponement of the election up to May 2018.

The bill also allows o incumbents to occupy their posts until new sets of officials are elected. Northernforum.net
