TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya is now preparing for November’s Indigenous People’s (IP) Month celebration.

A press release from the provincial government reported that Indigenous Peoples Consultant of the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya and former Governor Ruth Padilla has been conducting a series of meetings with the IP council, starting on Thursday, September 7.

The two-day celebration will be composed of poetic debates, songs and dances depicting rituals and ceremonies from various tribes.

IP groups Ifugao, Igorot, Bugkalot, Isinai and Gaddang will perform this year. The province is also encouraging other IP groups to participate.

Furthermore, IP groups that underwent the IP Summer Workshop will also perform in cultural and traditional shows.

In the release, Padilla added that performances will be done per IP group “to avoid repetition and give the audience the idea of a proper way to do a particular dance or song.”

The IP month celebration is part of Prayers N’ Faith program which started during the administration of Padilla and is continuously being implemented by her husband and current Governor Carlos Padilla, the release said.

IP Month will be on November 9 to 10 in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya. Northernforum.net
