TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Police Regional Office 2 Director Police Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery reminded gun holders with expired license to “renew as soon as possible” to avoid future legal problems.
“I would like to emphasize that failure to renew their gun license is tantamount to illegal possession of loose firearm,” said Quenery in a press release on Tuesday, August 8.
The police also stated that they will strictly implement the law and is closely monitoring loose firearms to strengthen their anti-criminality efforts.
This comes after police recovered a number of high-powered weapons such as 5.56 caliber Baby Armalite rifles, caliber .45 and caliber .25, and 49 pieces of live ammo for cal 5.56 in a resort in Santa Ana, Cagayan on Saturday, August 5.
Santa Ana Police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group served a search warrant to Ofelia Alipio Permienter and Jarl Permienter for violating Republic Act 10591 or the ‘Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.’
