Four dead in separate motorcycle crashes

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Four people were killed in separate motorcycle-related incidents in the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Cagayan, and Isabela over the past days.

In Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, a 27-year old security guard and his unidentified companion died after their motorcycle rammed into a malunggay tree along Bintawan Road, Barangay San Luis, on Sunday night, October 15.

Solano Police identified the driver as Gerald Aquino, a resident of Barangay Bintawan Norte, Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya.

Police said Aquino was driving on top speed when he lost control, swerving to the opposite lane and eventually rammed into a malungggay tree.

Aquino and his back rider sustained injuries and were rushed by the Nueva Vizcaya Rescue Team to Veterans Regional Hospital in Bayombong. They died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, a 25-year old man was killed in another motorcycle crash along Manila North Road, Centro 02, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on Saturday night, October 14.

Police said the victim, a certain Joseph Mark Baliuag, resident of Centro 01 in the town, was tailing an elf vehicle. The unidentified suspect then suddenly turned left without switching its signal light, police said.

Baliuag was thrown from his motorcycle after being bumped by the suspect, sustaining a head injury.

He was later brought to Northern Cagayan District Hospital the town where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sanchez Mira Police are conducting hot pursuit operation to identify the suspect.

In Cauayan City, Isabela, an unidentified man was also killed in a motor crash along Maharlika Highway, Nungnungan 02.

The man was said to be 5’8’’ in height, medium body built, wearing a blue-green shirt and gray maong pants.

Police said the suspect, Christian Cadeliña, 27, was driving his truck, without plate number, registered under the name of a certain Henson U. Fernandez.

Cadeliña’s truck was hit from behind by the victim’s motorcycle, also without a plate number.

The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was rushed to Dr Ester Garcia Medical Center where he was later declared dead on arrival.

Cadeliña is now under the custody of Cauayan City Police. Northernforum.net
