TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Cagayan Valley regional police unit netted eight drug suspects under their Project Double Barrel Reloaded from August 27-30, reports said.
A 23-year old laborer from Barangay Macanaya, Aparri, Cagayan was killed in a buy-bust operation after he tried to shoot an undercover agent in Barangay Alaguia, Lal-lo town. Police recovered a sachet of shabu, marked money, and an improvised gun.
Four other drug personalities were arrested: Roger Gabuyo Jr, a 29 year old resident of Barangay Pattao, Buguey, Cagayan; Andres and Rolina Reylubong, both from Barangay Cato, Tuao, Cagayan; and Rogelio Ramos, 26 years old a resident of Casitan, Gonzaga, Cagayan.
The police also arrested Roderick Tuliao, a 32 year old from Sitio Caddag, Barangay Dipusu in San Mariano, Isabela; Chris Jake Pumihic, a 27-year old from Barangay Quirino in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya; and Ricardo Gosmo, 36 years old and a resident of Rizal village in Santiago City, Isabela.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the effort and support of the community in helping our police in the government’s battle against illegal drugs through providing timely and accurate information,” Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) Director Police Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery said in a press release.
As of August 30, 2017, PRO2 said based on records from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, 730 drug personalities, 23 of whom were considered as high-value targets, 69 street-level targets, and 638 newly-identified pushers, were arrested since the start of Project: Double Barrel Reloaded in the region.
